Research Interests

My research exploits density-functional electronic structure calculations and high performance computers to study little-understood materials systems at the atomic scale. At present, my research is focused on understanding the physical chemistry of low-dimensional materials such as graphene oxide and the ionic transport properties of solid oxide electrolytes such as yttrium-doped barium zirconate. Working on the theory and computational modeling of complex materials systems, my research is inherently collaborative and experiment-driven.
